Jalen Douglas-Smith, 20, of Philadelphia, received a 15-to-23-month time served sentence for his role in a gunpoint home invasion robbery at the 200 block of Cedar Road in the Elkins Park section of Abington Township on December 2, 2024, Mainline Media News reported.
According to their coverage, Douglas-Smith cooperated with authorities and recently testified against his co-conspirator, Jonathan David Dell, 25, formerly of Abington Township. Dell was convicted of robbery and related charges last week after being arrested in February 2025.
Douglas-Smith’s previously pleaded guilty to robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, robbery of a motor vehicle, burglary and carrying a firearm without a license. He initially faced a possible maximum sentence of 43 to 86 years in prison.
Douglas-Smith also received three years of probation with the sentence.
An investigation began after the homeowner reported to police that two suspects approached her at gun point and announced a robbery while she was loading items into her car in her driveway. The suspects then forced her into the home where she and her adult son were held at gunpoint.
The suspects ransacked the home and stole cash, jewelry, electronics, and collectibles. Prior to their departure, the suspects bound the victims and fled in the homeowner’s vehicle, police said.
A short time later, the victims freed themselves and called for help. Neither victim was injured, police said.
