Donte Vaughn, 43, of Philadelphia, was sentenced to 13 to 35 years in prison for illegally harboring eight guns, including two ghost guns and one outfitted with a machine gun conversion device, at High Road Automotive in Glenside, The Pottstown Mercury reported.
Vaughn, who owned the auto repair business at 3021 Mt. Carmel Avenue, had three prior convictions, including for aggravated assault, which prohibited him from possessing guns. He was convicted of eight felony counts of person not to possess a firearm in March, The Mercury said.
An investigation began on July 26, 2024, when Abington police received a report that Vaughn, armed with a gun, had threatened another man during an encounter in North Hills. The victim reported that Vaughn had threatened to “shoot this place up” and threatened a second victim saying “I’ll stitch you up too” during an earlier encounter.
Vaughn returned to the victim’s residence brandishing a black handgun and calling the victim down to the street to fight, police said. The victim refused and Vaughn left the area.
When police searched him, they found a 10mm round in his pocket, and a warrant to search the business uncovered the guns, which included two ghost guns and one outfitted with a machine gun conversion device. Detectives also located body armor, several thousand rounds of ammunition, and narcotics.
As of April, Vaughn was awaiting trial in Chester County Court on DUI and gun-related charges, according to the Times Herald.
The former location of High Road Automotive is now Empire Automotive Services.
