Isaiah Castro, 29, of Philadelphia, was sentenced to 14 to 28 months in prison for stabbing and stomping on another man during a disturbance that began on a SEPTA bus in Cheltenham Township on January 11, Mainline Media News reported.

According to Cheltenham police, officers and EMS responded to the area of Old York Road and Breyer Drive in Elkins Park around 8:07am where they found a male with a stab wound to the head. Two suspects fled from the bus prior to police arrival but were apprehended after a foot pursuit in the area of Meetinghouse and Township Line roads.

The victim, who received lacerations on his face and a broken jaw from the incident, was transported to an area trauma center for treatment. He testified that his mouth was wired shut for about a month and doctors had to reconstruct his jaw and realign his teeth, Mainline Media said.

Raheem Tabir Jame Tyson, 31, also of Philadelphia and a friend of Castro’s, was also charged with punching the victim. He was previously sentenced to 8 to 23 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated assault, Mainline Media said.

Castro received a felony charge of aggravated assault.

The attack reportedly occurred when the victim intervened during a verbal argument between Castro, Tyson and others on the bus, including the bus driver.
