Mr. G. Donnon McGinley Sr., a longtime Abington High School social studies teacher and vice principal, passed away on Monday, September 14. He was 87.

A Rosemont native, Mr. McGinley graduated from Villanova University where he was a member of the basketball team. He went on to serve for 38 years as a teacher and respected administrator at Abington High School, his obituary said.

“Education was more than a profession to Don; it was something he valued deeply,” his obituary said. “He took pride in the education and accomplishments of his children, grandchildren and delighted in following their studies, interests, and paths in life.”

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, September 23 at 9:30am at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church on 259 Forest Avenue in Ambler. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am.
