Abdul-Jabril Cooper, a 20-year-old former student at Penn State Abington, was sentenced to 18 to 36 months in prison for raping a woman at his on-campus apartment in September 2024, The Pottstown Mercury reported.

He also faces a lifetime requirement to report his address to state police in order to comply with Pennsylvania’s Sexual Offender Registration and Notification Act.

In April, Cooper pleaded guilty to a felony charge of aggravated indecent assault without consent and turned himself in to police one day after the U.S. Marshals released his picture. He had previously declined offers from Penn State University police and the U.S. Marshals Service to surrender.

The investigation began on September 26, 2024, when the victim reported that she had been sexually assaulted by Cooper on September 25 during a visit to Cooper’s on-campus apartment. While watching TV, Cooper allegedly made non-consensual sexual advances and “touched the woman in an indecent manner”, The Reporter previously said.

The victim was eventually able to run out of the defendant’s apartment. Cooper subsequently dropped out of the university.
