Cheltenham Township has received a preliminary land development application for the proposed Ashlyn mixed-use apartment complex at 1900 Ashbourne Road.
A sketch proposal for the property by Lynnewood Gardens was submitted to the Township in August 2023. The development plan calls for 99 residential units, commercial space, and paved parking.
Henry Sekawungu, Director of Zoning and Planning, said the application is going through the review process and will be back for the final land development submission in coming weeks.
Sekawungu noted that the developers are currently slated to go before the Planning Commission on Monday, July 22 and will tentatively go before the Public Works committee on August 7.
149 Greenwood Avenue

The proposed demolition of Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson’s childhood home at 149 Greenwood Avenue in Wyncote went through a final approval with Board of Commissioners tonight, Sekawungu said.
The owner of the property, which doubled as the Jackson family’s tailor/dry cleaning business, intends to replace the structure with a parking lot. Plans to preserve the building’s historicity include a commemorative plaque on the site and a portion of one wall relocated to a nearby building.
