Mr. Robert Ehlinger, an Abington High School graduate, standout athlete, and award-winning philanthropist, has passed away at 68

Mr. Robert F. Ehlinger, a 1974 graduate of Abington High School and award-winning philanthropist, passed away on January 23. He was 68.

A standout multi-sport athlete, Mr. Ehlinger competed in wrestling, soccer, and lacrosse for the Galloping Ghosts and continued to play lacrosse at Gettysburg College, where was named team captain his senior year, according to his obituary.

In 1980, Mr. Ehlinger was awarded the Courage Award from the American Cancer Society’s Philadelphia Division and served as a spokesperson and chairperson for the American Cancer Society’s Bike-a-thon for several years, riding in the annual event from 1987 to 2024.

He was also an active member of the Philadelphia Chapter of Society of Information Management (SIM), a non-profit organization that gives back to the community through donations, scholarships and technology mentoring.

In 1999, at age 42, he completed the New York City Marathon, his obituary said.

A funeral service will be held on February 21, 2026, at Bradley Funeral Home, 601 Route 73 South, Marlton, NJ. Visitation – 11:00a to 12:00p, followed by Memorial Service at 12:00p.
