It’s theater season in Greater Glenside!

For its 56th annual production, Cheltenham Musical Theater is staging the multiple Tony Award-winning satiric comedy musical “Urinetown: The Musical” Thursday through Saturday, April 11-13 at Stretton Hall at Cheltenham High School.

Tickets are available at  https://cheltenham.seatyourself.biz/  and are $12 for adults and $8 for students. This production is recommended for ages 10 and up. Ordering in advance enables ticket buyers to choose their seats.

Don’t miss (pictured left to right) junior Manny Rimmer as Bobby Strong, senior Ivy Austin as Hope Cladwell, Natalie Pomerantz as Cladwell B. Cladwell, junior Sarah England as Penelope Pennywise and senior  Jazire Parker and Little Sally in this send up of  corporate greed and populist revolution.

“Urinetown: The Musical” tells of a future when a water shortage has made private toilets a thing of the past. Urine Good Company, led by Caldwell B. Cladwell, has gained a monopoly on public toilets and charges citizens for “the privilege to pee.” The nefarious CEO enriches his company and exiles renegades to an unknown fate in Urinetown. Meanwhile, Hope Cladwell, the leader’s daughter, works with hero Bobby Strong to liberate the public from capitalist oppression. Officer Lockstock, Little Sally, and the rest of an animated cast tell a witty story satirizing musical theatre conventions with irreverent, tongue-in-cheek humor.
