Mark Maxwell, Abington Township’s superintendent of Refuse and Recycling, has retired from his post after 47 years with the township.

Maxwell served as superintendent since 2010 and joined the McKinley Fire Company in 1979 when he was 16 years old.

“His commitment and hard work have made a lasting impact on our community,” the township said in a post. “Thank you, Mark, for helping make Abington Township a cleaner, greener place for all of us. Congratulations, and we wish you all the best in your next chapter!”
