Abington police release details of strong-armed robbery on March 24

The Abington Township Police Department announced the arrest of Zafir Taj Hill, 22, of Labelle, PA, for robbery and assault at the Abington Smoke Shop (1342 Easton Road, Roslyn) on Tuesday, March 24.

Hill is connected to the strong-armed robbery announced by Abington police yesterday.

According to today’s report, officers were dispatched at approximately 4:39pm for a report of a possible shooting inside the business. Upon arrival, officers located a store employee suffering from a head injury and observed that a glass display case had been shattered. The victim reported that an unidentified male with his face covered entered the store, assaulted him, broke the display case, and removed merchandise before fleeing the scene.

Officers broadcast a description of the suspect, and responding units located an individual matching that description in the area of Easton Road and Cross Road in the Glenside section of the township.

The individual, identified as Hill, was found to be in possession of merchandise taken from the Abington Smoke Shop and was taken into custody without incident.

Hill has been charged with Robbery, Aggravated Assault, and related offenses. He was transported to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility, where he was arraigned by Judge Scott Palladino, his bail was set at $50,077.
