Lower Moreland police arrest man for retail theft, another man for drug possession who was previously arrested for assaulting police officers, cocaine possession

The Lower Moreland Township Police Department announced the arrest of Shawn Sperry, 37 (above left), for stealing over $2,000 worth of items from Fisher’s Ace Hardware, located at 650 Welsh Road in Huntingdon Valley.

According to the report, Sperry entered the store on January 30. An arrest warrant was issued and he was arraigned on May 8.

His charges are below:

  • (1) COUNT OF 3929 A1 RETAIL THEFT – TAKE MDSE
  • (1) COUNT OF 3921 A THEFT BY UNLAW TAKING-MOVABLE PROP
  • (1) COUNT OF 3925 A RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY
  • (1) COUNT OF 907 A POSS INSTRUMENT OF CRIME W/ INT

Lower Moreland police also arrested Armand Xhelo, 44 (above right), for possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

According to the report, officers saw a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of a local store at the 2500 block of Huntingdon Pike on May 4. An investigation identified Xhelo as the driver and discovered drugs and drug paraphernalia in his possession, at which point he was arrested. 

Xhelo was arrested for possessing cocaine and marijuana in the Huntingdon Valley area in April 2025. In 2023, Xhelo was arrested for assaulting police officers—among other charges—outside of the Wawa at 2500 Philmont Avenue in Huntingdon Valley.

His charges are below:

  • (1) COUNT OF 780-113 A16 INTENTIONAL POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE BY PERSON NOT REGISTERED
  • (1) COUNT OF 780-113 A32 USE / POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA
