Wyndmoor man sentenced for three armed robberies

Von Ian Curry, 21, of Wyndmoor, was sentenced to six to 15 years in prison for his role in three armed robberies between December 21 and December 22, 2024, The Pottstown Mercury reported.

According to their coverage, Curry pleaded guilty to charges of robbery, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and carrying a firearm without a license.

Curry held up a Fine Wine & Good Spirits store on Bethlehem Pike in Springfield Township, a Boscov’s store in North Coventry, and a Kohl’s store in Limerick Township.

The Kohl’s incident was thwarted by off-duty Lower Merion Township detective James Black, The Mercury said.

In May, Black received a commendation for heroism for his actions. District Attorney Kevin R. Steele said Black’s actions that night “were nothing short of courageous in the face of great danger.”
