A little greater Glenside trivia mixed with a fun fact:

Former Cheltenham High School athletic director and assistant principal Scott Layer played basketball at Lehigh University for coach Fran McCaffery, a 1977 graduate of La Salle College High School in Wyndmoor.

McCaffery’s son, Connor, is the Instagram-official boyfriend of basketball superstar Caitlin Clark, the all-time leading scorer in NCAA women’s basketball history. They met at Iowa University where they both played basketball.

The couple was featured in People magazine on April 24 (their one-year anniversary) in an article titled “Who Is Caitlin Clark’s Boyfriend? All About Connor McCaffery“.

According to the story, McCaffery and Clark started dating in April 2023 but didn’t make their relationship public until August when Clark posted a photo on her Instagram.

They are both now in professional sports. McCaffery is a team assistant for the NBA’s Indiana Pacers, and Clark made her WNBA debut with the Indiana Fever on Friday night.

Fran McCaffery was highlighted in the article as well, quoted as saying, “Being around young people on a daily basis keeps you young. And I don’t look at my job any differently today than I did in 1983. I know that sounds weird, but it’s the truth.”
