Willow Grove firefighters assist with Hatboro blaze, rescue of 97-year-old man

In the early morning hours of Thursday, November 23, the Willow Grove Volunteer Fire Company, Hatboro police, the Enterprise Fire Company of Hatboro, and several other companies worked to extinguish a housefire on the 100 block of Fairview Avenue in Horsham.

According to officials, police and fire personnel were dispatched at approximately 3:35am. First arrivals found heavy fire in the rear of the house and entered the second floor to put out a fire in a rear bedroom.


According to 6ABC, police officers found a 97-year-old man calling for help who had been sleeping and didn’t know that his house was on fire.

The officers were able to carry the man out of the home and he was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Several local fire companies helped to bring the fire under control by just after 4:00am.
