Cheltenham grad and her father pay an author/illustrator visit to The Baldwin School

Nick Choitz, a former Cheltenham resident, and his daughter Tamara Choitz, a 2020 graduate of Cheltenham High School, recently paid an author/illustrator visit to The Baldwin School in Philadelphia to discuss their new book “Farah and Fidget Face Their Fears”.

Nick said the students were given an opportunity to ask questions regarding mental health awareness. They also played a Jeopardy game that was incorporated into the talk.

“One of the most powerful parts of the experience was seeing how willing the students were to engage. They asked honest and vulnerable questions and didn’t shy away from the conversation. When students are given both the language and practical ways to understand what they are feeling, it creates space for real growth and confidence,” Nick told Glenside Local.

“As a new artist, it can be challenging to get my work noticed, especially by the right audience,” Tamara said. This event at Baldwin School was fun, incredibly helpful, and gave me a sense of possibility that young artists like myself can gain recognition and be involved in something that amplifies my work.”
