Upcoming approvals for Jenkintown apartments & grocery store

Jenkintown Borough has a number of large projects going through approval processes, including three apartment building proposals and one grocery store, each of which have yet to receive official names.

501 Washington Lane Apartments

A proposed 26-unit apartment building at 501 Washington Lane has received each of the Borough’s requisite approvals, and will be heard by the Land Development committee on January 25.

Plans for the former commercial office space include retails stores beneath the apartment units.

821 Homestead Road Apartments

A proposal on behalf of Midgard Properties for roughly 25 apartment units at 821 Homestead Road are awaiting approval from the Montgomery County Conservation District.

The proposed complex will be a brand new building. Midgard demolished a three-story multi-purpose house and adjacent garage, and will be converting a former church into three townhouses as part of their project.

Once approved, Midgard can break ground and begin construction.

415-425 Johnson Street Apartments

UD Jenkintown Holdings, LLC, which submitted an application for apartments at 415-425 Johnson Street and 429 York Road, the former Times Chronicle building, will go before the Zoning Hearing Board on January 26.

The firm will have to go through Land Development after appealing for zoning relief. For more details on the project, you can click here.

Old York Road Grocery Store

A forthcoming 49,940 square feet grocery store, situated at the former site of Glanzmann Subaru and a set of commercial stores bordered by Old York Road, Washington Lane and Wyncote Lane, will appear before the Land Development committee on January 25.

The grocery store’s plans have been in the works since September. For more details on the project, you can click here.
