The Cheltenham Township Police Department announced that officers, EMS, and a fire department crew were dispatched to the Melrose Country Club on Saturday, April 13 at approximately 3:06pm for a report of a tree that had fallen on a golf cart.
Upon arrival, first responders found a person in the passenger seat of the golf cart with a large tree on top of them. An initial investigation determined that the tree had fallen on the golf cart as the decedent and another person who sustained minor injuries had been driving the cart during a round of golf, police said.
The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death upon completion of an autopsy, police said. The identity of the decedent is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
