Two members of Greater Glenside Patriotic Association graduate from Abington Township Citizens Police Academy

The Greater Glenside Patriotic Association (GGPA) saw members Jean Bova (above right) and Jamey Piggott (above left) earn degrees from the annual Abington Township Citizens Police Academy this year.

The academy, which spans eight weeks, “is designed to teach citizens about the training, policies, and guiding principles of law enforcement and ethics that shape Abington Police Department,” according to the department’s website.

Ellen Staerk (center left), Abington’s first woman police officer, spoke to attendees about the GGPA’s upcoming Memorial Day at the North Penn VFW as well as the July 4th celebration.

“Thank you to our team members for their time, dedication, and efforts!” the GGPA said in a statement. “As always, big thanks to both Abington and Cheltenham Police Departments for their continuous support!”
