ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Kyle Swartzwelder
A veteran of the folk scene, award winning songwriter Kyle Swartzwelder has been winning audiences over with his deft lyrical storytelling and dynamic live performances. Kyle started out in the coffee shops around the University of Delaware with his father’s 1968 Ovation Balladeer. After several years of cultivating his songwriting, Kyle moved on to the folk clubs and coffeehouses in the Philadelphia region and quickly developed a reputation as a top-notch songwriter and performer.
Recommended if you like – Lyle Lovett, Jeffrey Foucault, Josh Ritter, early Jackson Browne, early Neil Young.
Ethan Pierce
Ethan Pierce a native of Delaware county in the Philly suburbs is an honest songwriter who got an early start in the the scene. Frequenting cafes and listening rooms in the area and opening up opportunities such as performances at The Philadelphia Folk Festival and North East Regional Folk Alliance showcases. As was the case for many artists, the pandemic was a period of change for Ethan. Now a father of a 3 year old He is looking forward to getting back to sharing music from the stage. Jason McGovern
The Describers are a DIY Americana folk & pop rock project formed and led by Jason McGovern, a singer-songwriter whose songs vary from introspective folk and rootsy rock to synthy new wave home studio experiments.
The Describers’ most recent album “Ghost in the Rearview,” was released in 2022.
McGovern previously released music under his own name, but has been releasing music and performing as and with The Describers since 2018.
In addition to releasing music as The Describers, McGovern also plays keyboards for Philly favorites The Tisburys, and helped produce their 2021 EP “Pictures of Fireworks.” He also collaborates with other artists in the Philadelphia region representing a wide range of styles, including Andrew Huston and folk mainstay Kyle Swartzwelder.
Simon Godfrey
Simon Godfrey is a musician from London, England who moved to Philadelphia full time in 2014. Signed to UK label Bad Elephant Music, Simon has released thirteen albums over the past decade in many musical styles but possesses a deep an abiding passion for the singer/songwriter tradition.
“There’s nothing finer than a blend of memorable melodies and a good story to back them up.” Simon has released music under the Tidehouse moniker as well as his own name.
