The Meadowbrook School students soared at the Reading Olympics again this year! A dedicated group of 13 fourth and fifth-grade students showcased their love of reading, while displaying great teamwork, at the regional academic competition held earlier last month at Upper Dublin High School.
In the weeks leading up to the event, the students made an impressive commitment by giving up multiple recess periods to prepare for the Reading Olympics. During that time, they discussed selected books, practiced answering questions, and studied the rules and format of the competition. Their hard work extended beyond academics as well with one student, Gavin, even designing the team T-shirts.

The efforts of The Meadowbrook School students paid off. For the second consecutive year, the team earned a blue ribbon, which is the highest honor awarded at the competition. This distinction is given to teams that correctly answer more than 40 questions correctly. In total, teams are guaranteed 51 questions, with the opportunity to answer up to 60 if they successfully “steal” questions missed by other teams.
A special thank you is owed to the dedicated fourth and fifth grade teachers, Ms. Kennedy and Mrs. Bowler, who prepared the students for this amazing feat!
The achievement marks not only a victory in competition, but a celebration of reading, teamwork, and bringing life to learning for these Meadowbrook School students.
