Hector Luis Ybe, owner of Elkins Nutrition in Elkins Park (Cheltenham Township), is bringing “Whoville” to the High School Park business district for the third consecutive year.
The holiday-themed event will run from 11:30am – 4:00pm and feature multiple local art vendors and activities. This year’s event, much like Ybe’s evolving homemade Grinch costume, builds on previous themes through a Cheltenham-centric board game.
“We introduced ‘Whoville’ through a coloring book in 2023. Last year, we introduced how the Grinch found High School Road. This year, we are telling the story of how Max met the Grinch in Elkins Park. The board game tells the story from the previous coloring book,” he told Glenside Local.
“The game focuses on different historic places in the community, like Wall House and the train station, as well as some fun facts about the area,” Ybe said, noting that the game is printed black and white so that kids can color it. “It’s a way to keep them busy at night when the family is cooking. It’s also educational about the local community.”
Residents can look forward to more story additions in coming years, including the story of Cindy Lou in Elkins Park, Ybe said.
While there is no specific itinerary, the day will include photos with the Grinch taken by a professional photographer, a small concert, and local craft artists and food from local establishments, including the recently opened La Tia Bakery. The event’s Facebook page can be found here.
In addition to the board game, youth activities include a station to create postcards which will be given to seniors at local nursing homes.
