Recent Abington grad named 2026 PA State Laurel Queen

Madeline Krassner, a recent graduate of Abington Senior High School, was crowned the 2026 PA State Laurel Queen during ceremonies on the evening of Saturday, June 20 in Wellsboro.

The 84th annual Pennsylvania State Laurel Festival was held June 13-21. Krassner took part in a parade, a picnic lunch, and a visit to the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon with the other 21 contestants.

“I was shocked,” Krassner, an honor student at Abington High, said. “I looked over at her (Miss Mifflingburg) and made eye contact. It was such as exciting, amazing feeling. I’ve never done anything like this before. It was an amazing, warm feeling.”

She plans to attend Temple University’s Honors College with a double-major in English/media and communications.

“It was an opportunity to connect with people from all over Pennsylvania; I couldn’t deny it,” she said. “The amount of amazing women in these seats… I’m just lucky to even be among them, not to mention being chosen.”
