“Quit Threat” Looming Over Local Job Market

Help Wanted

If you’re an employer wondering why you can’t find decent help, one of the reasons might be we’re either at or approaching full employment.

According to the April, 2019 report issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry:

Of the 67 counties in the state, Chester had the lowest unemployment rate in April at 2.6 percent. The highest rate was 5.5 percent in Forest County. Montgomery tied Adams and Centre counties for the third-lowest rate at 2.9 percent.

That rate represents a .2% drop from March.

It’s a tight market out there, employers. The excellent NPR podcast “Planet Money” recently posted a show called “Quit Threat” that describes how the balance of power has shifted to the employee. Whether you work or employ, it makes for a great listen.

Here at GlensideLocal, we’re currently advertising three open positions on our newly redesigned employment listings section. You’ll see ten more listings at our sister site MoreThanTheCurve.com and eleven at AroundAmbler.com. If you need to reach the local job market, this is about as good place to start as any.
