Plans for Whiskey Road (the former Blue Comet) in downtown Glenside may have fallen through

Plans for Whiskey Road, a pub restaurant at 106 S. Easton Road in Glenside (the former Blue Comet), have been on hold for over a year.

Whiskey Road’s partner and kitchen manager, Ted (who preferred to withhold his last name), said the deal may have fallen through. Ownership originally included three partners, one of whom was removed from the project “due to illegal activities in Philadelphia,” Ted said.

The other partner, Jeff, said he’s “letting the building go” according to their most recent conversation.

The property has been vacant since December 2022 when an interior pipe burst. Signage for the now-defunct Franklin’s Pub came down in July 2024. That August, we reported that a “Help Wanted” sign appeared in the building’s window, followed by a hiring event that September.

Three months later, the property failed inspection due to concerns over a drainpipe from the roof to the bottom of the building.

“I don’t know where things are at. The building is still sitting there. We were ready to open,” Ted said. “We had the alcohol license, and then another inspector came in and stopped everything because of a pipe.”

According to public records, the property is owned by Scott Esterly of S&S Properties of Glenside LP. Ted said he may be interested in purchasing the property depending on asking price.

Glenside Local reached out to Mr. Esterly for details. We will be in touch with updates if/when he responds.
