The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission announced this week that tolls will increase by 3.5% beginning on January 3, 2027.
The increase was approved during the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission’s July 7 meeting.
The new rates apply to E-ZPass and Toll By Plate customers and are driven by Act 44 of 2007, which mandates the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission to raise rates annually. Rather than raising taxes, Act 44 uses toll revenue to support state infrastructure.
According to the commission, the increase is the lowest since 2014. 2026 saw an increase of 4%. Rates went up 5% in 2025 and 2024. In 2028, toll increases will drop to 3%.
In 2027, drivers will see the per-mile rate rise from $.073 to $.075 and the segment fee from $1.13 to $1.17.
Drivers can budget ahead for the cost of driving on the Pennsylvania Turnpike using the PA Toll Calculator.
