Cheltenham Township recently posted the following on their Facebook page:
PSA: When barricades or cones are placed to indicate a road closure, there is always a reason. Road Closure decisions are made for the safety of both the public and any workers or first responders in the area.
The driver who encountered this PECO gas main work at Chelten Hills Dr and Heather Rd has learned this lesson. Fortunately, construction personnel were not in this hole when the vehicle went around the closure point, and the two exposed gas mains were not struck, which would have resulted in a much worse situation.



As far as we know, no one was injured by the incident, which may serve as a cautionary tale to area residents with similar ideas…
