Mr. Zachary Messinger, an Elkins Park native, has passed away at 40

Mr. Zachary Brett Messinger, an Elkins Park native, passed away at his home in North Wales on December 22. He was 40 years old.

Messinger grew up in Cheltenham Township and attended the Crefeld School, an alternative school in the Chestnut Hill section of Philadelphia. According to his obituary, he spent his spare time playing hockey at Old York Road Skating Club in Elkins Park.

From his obituary:

Zach was an incredibly funny, kind, loving and intelligent person who loved his wife, family, friends, his dogs, the Atlanta Braves and the Philadelphia Flyers. He grew up in the beautiful neighborhood of Elkins Park, PA and spent his summers at camp and his spare time playing hockey at Old York Road Skating Club. After high school, Zach moved to Israel and spent 3 years abroad before returning to PA. He had a brilliant mind and could build any gadget from scratch, which became an avid hobby of his. He worked for the past 8 years at Costco, where he met his loving wife, Lindsey. He touched the lives of many and will be remembered for his dry sense of humor and generosity.

The obituary does not mention the cause of Messinger’s death.

A memorial service was held on December 31 at Roosevelt Memorial Park, located at 2701 Old Lincoln Highway in Trevose.
