The Abington Police Department announced this afternoon the fatal shooting of a man involved in a violent domestic dispute at the Rosemore Gardens apartment complex (2300 block of Rosemore Avenue) in Glenside on Thursday, March 6 at approximately 11:15am.
Officers had received reports of gunshots and heard an additional gunshot after arriving on the scene, which was followed by screaming from an adult female victim inside, the department said.
Officers shot an armed male suspect who was subsequently transported to Abington Jefferson Hospital for medical treatment. Police said they were recently notified that the suspect is deceased, and that the adult female victim, her child, and the officers involved were uninjured.
The incident is under investigation by the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, police said.
The names of the man and the police involved are not being released at this time, District Attorney Kevin Steele said.
As of 12:15pm, police said the “scene is secure and there is no threat to the community.”
