Man arrested on multiple felony charges after contacting Abington teen on Instagram

Yesterday, Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele and Abington Township Police Chief Patrick Molloy announced the arrest of Geonattan Fabiani, 30, of Philadelphia, on multiple felony charges for grooming and luring a juvenile to meet him for sex using Instagram.

According to the press release, on May 2nd a family member contacted Abington Township Police after discovering that a 30-year-old male was communicating with the juvenile using Instagram. The juvenile’s Instagram account listed the child’s age as “15 going on 16.” The communications were sexual in nature and included multiple requests by the defendant for naked photos of the juvenile.

In addition, the defendant asked the juvenile to meet for sex. Following the report to police, Abington detectives used the child’s phone to arrange a meeting. Fabiani was arrested when he arrived at the meet location.

“Sexual predators know that cell phones are always in the hands of our
teenagers and an easy way to reach out to teens and children without the
adults in their lives being aware of it,” said Steele. “Parents need to be vigilant and aware of who their children are in communications with as well as talk to their kids about these types of attempts.”

Fabiani is charged with multiple felonies, including Attempted Statutory Sexual Assault, Attempted Involuntary Deviant Sexual Intercourse, Distribution of Obscene Sexual Material, Corruption of Minors, Possession of Child Pornography, Unlawful Contact with a Minor and Criminal Use of a
Communications Facility.

Fabiani was arraigned on June 4th by Magisterial District Judge John Kessler, who set bail at $250,000. He was unable to post bail and was remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 17th at 10:00 a.m.
