Business Insider recently updated their article, “10 abandoned mansions around the world that likely used to be worth millions,” which includes Elkin’s Park’s Lynnewood Hall.
The article includes mansions from Scotland, Ukraine, Tennessee, Virginia, New Jersey, and Missouri.
“Lynnewood Hall, a 110-room, century-old Gilded Age palace just outside of Philadelphia, was designed by Horace Trumbauer in the late 1890s,” Katie Warren, Libertina Brandt, and Taylor Ardrey wrote. “Despite its state of disrepair, Lynnewood Hall is actually still worth millions — in July 2019, it was listed for sale for $11 million. However, it has since been taken off the market,”
The article continues: “It cost an estimated $200 million to build in today’s dollars. Although it’s still in relatively good condition, it could cost up to $40 million to restore the hall and its grounds to their former glory, according to David B. Rowland, president of the Old York Road Historical Society.”
