The Lower Moreland Police Department addressed today the prevalence of young children and teens who are engaging in a “door kick” social media trend.
According to their announcement, “pranksters approach the front door of people’s homes and kick it as hard as they can before fleeing the property.”
“We urge parents to speak with your children about the dangers and consequences of participating in this harmful prank,” Lower Moreland police said. “It would be devastating if a seemingly innocent prank escalated into a physical confrontation or violent incident involving a property owner and youths.”
In July 2025, Abington police shared a Community Alert regarding the trend. Officials said the videos show teenagers and children “pounding on or violently kicking doors, often late at night, pretending to break in, before running away. Many see it as a funny prank for views or likes, but this behavior is anything but harmless.”
NBC10 reported on the trend in June 2025. In May 2025, Cheltenham schools warned of another national social media trend known as the ‘Chromebook Challenge’.
You can call Lower Moreland police at 215-947-3132 with any questions or concerns, the announcement said.
