Local Boy Bradley Cooper to Appear with Philadelphia Orchestra

Bradley Cooper

Is there nothing Bradley can’t do?

Philly.com reports that Academy Award Winning local-boy-made-good Bradley Cooper will appear with the Philadelphia Orchestra to narrate the orchestra’s coming performances of Bernstein’s Candide at the Kimmel Center. Carey Mulligan will also share the stage.

Aside from his acting chops and local cred, why Cooper? Part of the reason involves Brad’s preparation for an upcoming biopic about the life of Leonard Bernstein.

From the article:

“He’s been spending time with [music director Yannick Nézet-Séguin] to learn more about classical music,” said Kevin Newbury, who will direct the Philadelphia production of Candide. “Certainly it’s a win for everybody. It’s exciting that he wants to learn more about staging Bernstein with an orchestra first-hand and to learn more about Bernstein in general,” Newbury told The Inquirer.

The performances will take place on June 20, 21, and 22. WRTI-FM (90.1) will air the June 21 performance.
