La Salle College football standout commits to West Virginia University

Chris Fileppo, a Glenside resident and a rising senior at La Salle College High School in Wyndmoor, announced Sunday evening that he has committed to play football for the West Virginia University Mountaineers in 2025.

According to The Voice of Morgantown, a WVU sports news outlet, the 6’3″, 210-pound safety/linebacker was previously committed to James Madison University but changed his course after visiting Morgantown on an official visit.

He also held offers from the University of Connecticut, Purdue University, the University of South Florida, and Villanova University, among other D1 programs. The Mountaineers are currently ranked 21st in the nation.

From Fileppo’s evaluation, courtesy of Sports Illustrated:

Fileppo plays a ton of deep safety at his high school, but is someone the WVU staff envisions playing more in the box at the spear in Jordan Lesley’s defense. Very athletic and a sure tackler in open space which makes him a near perfect fit for the spear. Because of his experience playing deep, he can also add depth at free, strong, and cat safety as well and perhaps, maybe even as an option at WILL linebacker if needed. Fileppo is a developmental project that will make his hay on special teams early in his career and could make an impact there fairly early. There’s potential here to be a diamond in the rough.
