Jenkintown Borough will consider this month a Final Land Development proposal regarding a mixed-use retail and apartment building at 459-471 York Road.
According to borough manager George Locke, the developer will come before the Design Review Board on Monday, August 18, and Borough Council on Wednesday, August 27.
The developer received Preliminary Land Development approval at the June 25 Borough Council meeting. In July 2024, the proposal passed through a conditional land use hearing and appeared before the Zoning Board in August. The August hearing determined that the development may have up to 40 units. In November 2024, the borough held a Conditional Use Hearing for the proposal.
Apartments.com has already begun to list available units.
In related news, the borough’s comprehensive re-write of the parking ordinance will also come before Council on August 27.
“I think we got a lot of things worked out and we were able to change a lot of things that we originally proposed,” Locke said.
The issue was discussed during a July 23 meeting, March 26 meeting, a March 19 meeting, and a special public community meeting on March 12. Chief Thomas Scott of the Jenkintown Police Department issued a message regarding parking enforcement in August 2024.
