Jenkintown Borough will hold a conditional land use hearing on Wednesday, July 26 for a proposed apartment building at 459-471 York Road, the site of the former Helwig’s Funeral Home.

According to Borough Manager George Locke, the developers will also appear before the Zoning Board in August.

“The August hearing will determine density. In other words, how many apartments they’re allowed to have. That’s where it could get tricky for them. Parking and variances will come into play then,” Locke said.

“The July hearing could be drawn out, but it’ll really just be about the conditional use. It shouldn’t be that overwhelming for them in July. Zoning is where the rubber hits the road,” he said. “We just received an application from them and are setting up the hearing for August now.”
