A proposed mixed-use retail and apartment building at 459-471 York Road received Preliminary Land Development approval at the June 25 Borough Council meeting.
According to borough manager George Locke, the developer is expected back on July 23 to request final approval.
“They’ve agreed to widen the sidewalk on Cherry Street, which is nice,” Locke said. A start date for construction is undetermined at this time.
In July 2024, the proposal passed through a conditional land use hearing and appeared before the Zoning Board in August. The August hearing determined that the development may have up to 40 units. In November 2024, the borough held a Conditional Use Hearing for the proposal.
Apartments.com has already begun to list available units.
In related news, Mobay Jamaican, a forthcoming restaurant at 111 York Road, received their sewer and Zoning & Use approvals, and Lilly’s Indian Cuisine will expand into a vacant small store at the back of the property.
“Lilly’s will be using it for events and groups,” Locke said.
