Jefferson Abington receives ‘B’ in national safety report, Holy Redeemer receives ‘Straight A’ recognition

Jefferson Abington Hospital received a “B” rating in The Leapfrog Group’s spring 2025 Hospital Safety Grades released Thursday, May 1.

The nonprofit watchdog group assigned safety grades ranging from “A” to “F,” for 3,000 general hospitals around the country. The analysis includes 10 categories, including Patient Rights and Ethics, Preventing Patient Harm, Healthcare-Associated Infections, and Medication Safety.

Jefferson Abington previously received a “B” rating in 2024, and “A” grades since at least 2021, according to Leapfrog Group.

Holy Redeemer Hospital and Medical Center in Meadowbrook (Abington Township) received an “A” rating. The hospital has earned an “A” Grade for five consecutive grading rounds or more, qualifying it for recognition as a “Straight A” hospital.

In January, Redeemer Health, which owns and operates Holy Redeemer Hospital in Abington and Huntingdon Valley, launched a $46 million plan to improve revenue and cut expenses.
