Huntingdon Children’s School to open in Abington this fall, registration begins in June

Huntingdon Children’s School, located at 1501 Huntingdon Road in Abington Township, is expected to open its doors to children ages six weeks to five years old this fall. The HCS Program will offer full-time and part-time care and learning opportunities for children in greater Glenside.

Founders Rachel Kaufman and Alycia Kaufman-Wright, Blue Bell residents, say they have together 20+ years’ experience working with children and older adults and have received formal training in “the power of play” and “nature-based learning.”

“Our program which is located on a beautiful, four-acre campus offers a state approved learning curriculum through Nature-Based Play, Practical Skill Activities and Literacy-Rich Centers,” Kaufman told Glenside Local. “We have a multi-sensory learning system, and we’re going to have a hands-on cooking program, which is exciting. We’ll be bringing in professional music and movement guests, and we’re working on a year-round gardening program for our kids.”

The family-owned school is also looking to incorporate the community through various programs currently in the works.

“We’re considering an enrichment program for home-schooled kiddos in the area, free story time events, Halloween events, and more,” Kaufman said. “We’re in a resident community so we’re open to different ideas.”

The school’s official registration will begin at the end of June. Kaufman said they are looking to hire teachers, ideally from nearby universities like Arcadia, Penn State Abington, Manor College.

In summer 2026, Huntingdon Children’s School is hoping to host a school-aged summer camp.

“My daughter has directed summer camps for three years. She’s ready for it,” Kaufman said.

A website is forthcoming. Their grand opening will take place on September 2.
