Crews oust vehicle fire in Abington Township, stovetop fire in Willow Grove

The Roslyn Fire Company announced that crews were dispatched to the 1000 block of Easton Road in Abington Township at 4:02pm on Friday, July 24 for a vehicle fire.

Arriving firefighters found an SUV with fire coming from its rear. Crews quickly brought the fire under control, the post said.

“Thanks to Weldon Fire Company for their assistance and all our members who continue to answer the call throughout this busy day,” the post said.

On Saturday, July 25, the Roslyn Fire Company, the Upper Moreland Township Fire Department, and the Abington Fire Company were dispatched to the 1600 block of Franklin Avenue in Willow Grove for a reported appliance fire.

Arriving crews quickly extinguished an active stovetop fire, then ventilated the home to remove smoke, officials said.

“We’d like to commend the homeowner for doing the right thing by calling 911 immediately. Prompt notification allowed crews to arrive quickly and keep the fire from spreading further,” the post said. “A reminder to our community: If you experience a cooking fire, get everyone out safely, close the door behind you if possible, and call 911 immediately.”
