Local historian Chuck Langerman shared memories of the Camden County Music Fair’s (Cherry Hill, New Jersey) top musicals, Broadway shows, and musical groups back in the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s.
According to Langerman, the outdoor amphitheater, a theater-in-the-round with a circular stage, was located at the cusp of Haddonfield and Cherry Hill under a red and yellow tent.
On August 3, 1963, Joan Baez introduced a practically unknown 22-year-old from Minnesota named Robert Allen Zimmerman who had just legally changed his name to Bob Dylan (pictured below with Joan at the Music Fair). He joined her for a few duets, a practice that became customary throughout her tour that month.

There is now a park on the site of the Camden County Music Fair. A list of bookings from the 1960s, which includes Ray Charles, Blood Sweat & Tears, The Temptations, Simon & Garfunkel, and more, can be found here.
If you have any memories of the Camden County Music Fair, Chuck asks that you leave them in the comments.
Langerman also noted that on December 25, 2024, the much-anticipated movie, “A Complete Unknown,” starring Timothee Chalamet as Bob Dylan, will premiere around the country. The trailer is below:
