GYAC 12U pitcher throws perfect game as Ghosts move on to league championship

Billy Sautter, a pitcher for Glenside Youth Athletic Club’s 12U baseball team, threw a perfect game on Saturday, June 7 during a 4-0 win over the Morrisville Riverdogs in the Suburban Travel quarterfinals.

“It was an interesting game because we had a 45-minute rain delay,” GYAC Vice President Craig Ecker told Glenside Local. “He came back after the delay and was even sharper than he was before. We started noticing around the fifth inning that no one had gotten on base yet.”

According to Ecker, this was Sautter’s first complete game no-hitter. After the final strikeout, teammates doused him with water and Gatorade in celebration.

“He had a huge smile after the final strikeout, then his teammates mobbed him. He was ecstatic,” Ecker said. “It’s a pretty cool accomplishment, even at 12 years old. Morrisville is a very good team. He scored two runs for us as well.”

The momentum carried the Glenside Ghosts through a 9-2 win over Jenkintown in the semifinals on Sunday, June 8. The 12Us will play Upper Dublin for the league championship sometime over the next week, Ecker said. The Ghosts are hoping for their third consecutive Suburban Travel title.

“This is our last run together as a team this summer, so it’s been a great ride,” Ecker said.

Last year, the team also brought home their second consecutive Southeastern PA Cal Ripken State Tournament title after defeating South Parkland 12-1.
