Governor Josh Shapiro of Abington Township made a $250,000 donation to the Pennsylvania Democratic Party last week, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
According to their coverage, the donation coincided with the naming of Larry Hailsham Jr. (above left) as the party’s new executive director. Hailsham, a political strategist, was the political director for Shapiro’s 2022 campaign and served as the administration’s executive deputy chief of staff.
In a statement, Shapiro called Hailsham a “a true public servant … With Larry at the helm as executive director, we will grow our party and compete and win all across our commonwealth. Larry will be a key part of our efforts to protect real freedom and get stuff done for the people of this commonwealth.”
The $250,000 donation is “to ensure the Pennsylvania Democratic Party has the infrastructure it needs to reach voters and win in 2025, 2026, and beyond,” Shapiro for PA spokesperson Manuel Bonder said in a statement.
“The governor spends every single day working to deliver for the good people of Pennsylvania,” Hailsham told WESA. “And what we see at the party is the opportunity to ensure that type of work ethic and vigor happens across the party infrastructure, mobilizing all of our 67 counties to know there’s an opportunity to compete and win.”
