Dr. Jeffrey Fecher, superintendent of the Abington School District, issued a notice to the community yesterday in reference to a recent police investigation involving a female student.
According to the notice, the investigation resulted in a 25-year-old male being charged with raping an Abington Senior High School student in her home.
Police reported that on two different dates in March, the student “had opened a back door in the high school to let them man into the school during the school day. Video footage shows he was wearing a hoodie and was able to briefly blend in as a student while moving in the hallways.”
According to the arrest affidavit, the victim filed a report with the Abington Township Police Department on March 28. During an interview, she told police that she met the male inside the high school. He was later identified as Raeem Grange-Allen.
“Grange-Allen identified himself to the victim as a student initially,” the affidavit says. He then “began communicating with the victim over text messages and social media” and later “requested she perform oral sex on him” behind a stairwell in the school.
“The victim estimated in total she saw him or let him into the school approximately three to four times,” the affidavit says.
The victim reportedly told Grange-Allen her age and said he sent her nude photos of himself and asked her to send nude photos in return.
“One time specifically, Grange-Allen requested the victim go to the bathroom and send a video of herself masturbating,” the affadavit says.
Grange-Allen allegedly visited the victim’s residence on March 27. During his stay, he “kept trying to get her to ‘suck his dick'” and “pushed her head down and kept trying to make the tip (of his penis) go into her mouth,” according to the affadavit.
The victim also described how Grange-Allen “lifted her up and turned her around” and “attempted to pull her pants down and bend her over the bed.” She told police that he held her down while “rubbing his penis on her vagina and butt,” the affadavit says, adding that he “grabbed both of her wrists and held them behind her back” as she tried to pull her pants up.
The victim reportedly screamed, which caused Grange-Allen to release her and stop his actions. He then opened the victim’s dresser drawer and “took several of her underwear”.
The victim’s mother caught Grange-Allen in the victim’s bedroom, police said.
Dr. Fecher’s notice says the district is launching a third-party internal investigation to gather more information about where and when he initially met the victim and the nature of his presence in the school.
“We are reviewing all of our security protocols and procedures, and will be working with the Montgomery County Department of School Safety to determine whether additional security measures can be put in place,” he wrote.
Abington police said its detectives are continuing to investigate the matter. Anyone with information regarding Grange-Allen, or anyone who believes they may have been victimized by him, is encouraged to contact Detective Jeff Anderson at 267-536-1118 or by email at janderson@abingtonpa.gov.
Grange-Allen is being held on $250,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 2.
