Michael Petrocik, 71, of Glenside, was arrested on charges of Homicide by
Vehicle While DUI, DUI, Reckless Driving among other charges on Friday. The arrest was a result of his involvement in a crash this past December 29th on the 3000 block of Philmont Avenue in Huntingdon Valley. The crash killed 61-year-old Mary Duffy, 61, who was out walking her dog. The dog survived.
An investigation was launched by the Lower Moreland Twp. Police with help from Montgomery County Detectives. During the investigation, Police discovered that Police crash was filmed by a nearby business’s surveillance video.
Petrocik was driving between 45 and 48 mph in a 35-mph zone and struck Duffy while driving erratically. No breaks were seen applied during the crash. Later lab work determined that Petrocik had multiple controlled substances in his system.
Magisterial District Judge Jay S. Friedenberg arraigned Petrocik and set
bail at $20,000 cash. Petrocik was able to post bail and was released.
March 15, 2022 is the date of the preliminary hearing.
