Germantown Academy students take 2nd in 2026 Congressional App Challenge

Representative Madeleine Dean of Glenside announced today that two students at Germantown Academy in Fort Washington took second place in the 2026 Congressional App Challenge.

The App Challenge was established by Congress to encourage youth participation in computer science by allowing students across the country to compete against their peers in creating a software application (app) for a smartphone, tablet or other computer devices.

Divya and Om of Germantown Academy designed College Buddy, “an app that helps students navigate the complex and often stressful world of college applications,” Dean wrote.

The contest’s winner from The Hill School created Glitched, a 2-D and 3-D day-in-the-life simulation that helps students recognize symptoms of anxiety in order to raise necessary awareness.

“Every year, I am amazed not just by the intelligence of our students, but by the heart they bring to their innovation,” Dean said in the post.
