Forecasters issue Extreme Cold Warning Feb. 7-8

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued an Extreme Cold Warning beginning at 3:00pm on Saturday, February 7 until 10:00am on Sunday, February 8 in greater Glenside and surrounding areas.

The NWS posted the following today:

The Arctic blast returns this weekend. Still chilly today with highs some 10° below normal, but at least some spots will top the freezing mark.

Arctic front approaches later today and crosses the region late tonight through Saturday morning. Some light snow develops tonight, then some snow squalls are possible Saturday morning with frontal passage.

From there, it turns windy and brutally cold for Saturday. Temps crash into the teens by Saturday afternoon, and NW winds increase to 20 to 30 mph with 40 to 60 mph gusts. High Wind Warnings, Wind Advisories, and Extreme Cold Warnings now in effect.
