Salvatore “Sal” DiMaggio, co-owner of Philly Philly Cheesesteaks at 24 S York Road in Hatboro, is expecting to officially open sometime in May.
The location sits on the first floor of Milliner Lofts, a 36-unit apartment complex which opened last year. Features include indoor and outdoor seating, a full bar, and “brick and concrete urban decor”, Sal said.
The eatery is the second of its kind: Sal and his wife, Rosie, opened the first Philly Philly Cheesesteaks in Perkasie in March 2024. The Hatboro opportunity fell into their laps through a realtor and longtime customer.
“In Perkasie, we have a liquor license that we couldn’t use. We were looking to do something with it for a second location,” he told Glenside Local. “A realtor for the apartments who happens to be a longtime customer and friend of ours reached out and mentioned the space. I’m excited about Hatboro because they have so many events. We’ll be able to showcase who we are.”

For the DiMaggios, community involvement is as important as the food they serve.
“We’re very community-based and involved with schools and charities. I’ve learned that goes further than just the food,” he said. “There’s a dozen cheesesteak places out there. Our brand is a little more family-riented. My wife and I try to spread that across the board.”
The space’s interior has been outfitted and is ready to go once the last of the special-order equipment arrives. A seasoned veteran of the service industry, Sal is taking things one step at a time.
“My dad used to own a pizzeria so I was in there a lot. I’ve worked at pizza shops and learned the industry that way. I got to a point where I wanted to do this for myself and see if I had what it takes. I’m grateful and fortunate to be in this line of work,” he said. “Everything we offer is scratch-made. We make our own chicken tenders, sauces, and we do a lot of combinations. Cheesesteaks with fried eggs and onion rings on it, for example.”
