Flourtown’s Crush Crew Jiu-Jitsu feat. by FOX29 for free self-defense classes for girls after Willow Grove Mall attempted abduction

Omar “Big O” Cruickshank, owner of Crush Crew Jiu-Jitsu in Flourtown, was recently featured by FOX29 for leading a series of self-defense classes for teen girls 12 to 19-years-old.

The classes focus on learning to defend and protect themselves from an abduction.

So far, Crush Crew has offered four sessions, including a class in August in Glenside and another in September in Abington. The series is Cruickshank’s response to the attempted kidnapping at the Willow Grove Park Mall on July 12, in which 44-year-old Khalil Evans, who was later arrested and charged, tried to abduct a 14-year-old girl.

“I was angry that they would be so blatant and try to do it in our area. I was scared for my family, my sons and my goddaughters that I have,” Cruikshank told FOX29. “This is priceless. I will make my money other ways but making sure that the girls and teens are safe, that is more important to myself and my team.”
