Fill A Bagel celebrating 30th anniversary with events, appreciation, and more

Fill A Bagel, a bagel shop with locations in Oreland and Jenkintown, is celebrating its 30th anniversary of business this year.

Owners Vicki Ard and her husband Charlie Ard signed their Jenkintown lease in January 1994. They opened their doors six months later.

“Our actual anniversary is June 14. We’ll be doing various things to celebrate throughout the year. We’ll be putting out more old photos and we’ll likely have a big event towards the end of June, maybe in July,” Vicki said. “Everything we do this year, we’ll give it some 30-year hype.”

Vicki and Charlie opened their Oreland location seven years ago.

“Our executive baker Jason has been with us for 24 years, and we have multiple team members who have been with us for about the same amount of time,” Vicki said. “I have to thank them for all they do. They’re such a great management team. They’ve stuck by us and we’ve gotten through the tough times together.”

“We started in this business because my dad couldn’t get a good bagel when he came and visited us. I was in the service industry and my husband was in landscaping. We took the plunge,” Vicki said.

Online ordering is available through Toast, an ordering app, and their catering services are still available post-Covid. They make bagel platters, pastry trays, gift baskets, fruit platters, sandwich trays, and more.

“We’ve seen things come and go, trends change over the years,” she said. “We appreciate everyone’s loyalty so much. We’ve seen children grow up, and now their kids are coming. It’s really a neat thing to see.”
