Fatal gunshot wound in Glenside cemetery ruled accidental, officials say

The Montgomery County Coroner released today additional information regarding the death of Brian Horter, 41, of Philadelphia, who was found suffering from a gunshot wound in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Glenside just after midnight on Wednesday, July 1.

According to the Coroner’s Office, officers arrived to find Horter suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was transported to Abington Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 12:47am.

The manner of death has been ruled an accident. The cause of death was attributed to a gunshot wound to Horter’s left thigh.

According to NBC10’s coverage, Horter was under investigation by the Attorney General’s Gun Violence Task Force in 2016 after he allegedly hid a bag with a gun and pipe bomb inside at a Philadelphia park.

“He faced several charges in connection to the incident and sources told NBC10 he was placed on the terrorist watch list as a result,” the article says.
